Prof. Dr. Aline Koch
University of Regensburg. She studied biology at Justus Liebig University Giessen, where she also gained her doctorate with honors. Her research focusses on RNA-based technologies for sustainable plant production and plant protection. She has published ground-breaking work on RNA interference and its application in agriculture.
Prior to her professorship at the University of Regensburg in 2022, Prof. Koch worked as a research group leader and academic counsellor at the Universities of Hohenheim and Gießen. She has received several awards for her scientific work, including the dissertation prize from the University of Gießen and the Julius Kühn Prize from the German Phytomedical Society.
A particular focus of her work is science communication to make the importance of innovative RNA technologies for sustainable agriculture accessible to the public. Prof. Koch actively participates in public events, gives interviews and regularly publishes articles in specialized and popular science media.
