caRNApp

The caRNApp project is dedicated to the production and scale-up of circular RNAs (circRNAs) with the aim of developing a promising extension of the toolbox for sprayable RNAs. The focus is on circular antisense RNA (caRNAs), which represent an innovative solution in plant protection. In contrast to classical RNA interferences (RNAi), caRNAs act directly on mRNAs without relying on the RNAi machinery.

This makes them particularly interesting for the control of harmful organisms that cannot be combated using conventional RNAi methods. Besides certain fungi, these include all bacterial plant pests, which have been difficult to control until now. By researching caRNAs, the caRNApp projects is opening new ways to sustainably improve plant health.
