In the BotRyNA project, we are developing dsRNA-based agents targeting Botrytis isolates from hydrangea cultures, a major pathogen that use cause significant yield and quality losses. We are testing the efficacy of these RNA molecules under laboratory and greenhouse conditions, and later under the production conditions of our project partner. To improve the stability of dsRNA on plant surfaces, formulations are used, extending the RNA´s activity against the pathogen. In parallel, a modular spraying system is being developed by our partners, which allows contact-free, efficient and drip-free application of the RNA spray on hydrangeas, a setup that is currently unique on the market.
